Configuring a Single Checkbox Review Criterion
A Single Checkbox review criterion allows reviewers to indicate whether a statement applies by selecting a checkbox.
This criterion type is commonly used for eligibility checks, requirements verification, acknowledgements, pass/fail assessments, and simple yes/no style evaluations.
Adding a Single Checkbox Review Criterion
-
Navigate to the desired review form or scorecard.
-
Select Add Criteria.
-
Select Single Checkbox from the Criteria Type dropdown.
-
Configure the available settings.
-
Select Submit.

Example:
-

Single Checkbox vs. Multiple Checkbox Review Criteria
|
Criteria Type |
Best Used For |
|---|---|
|
Single Checkbox |
One statement that is either true or false. |
|
Multiple Checkbox |
Multiple options where reviewers may select more than one response. |
If reviewers are verifying a single requirement, use a Single Checkbox criterion. If reviewers need to identify multiple strengths, concerns, or attributes, use a Multiple Checkbox criterion.
Single Checkbox vs. Multiple Choice Review Criteria
|
Criteria Type |
Best Used For |
|---|---|
|
Single Checkbox |
Simple pass/fail or yes/no evaluations. |
|
Multiple Choice |
Evaluations requiring multiple response options or scoring levels. |
For example, use a Single Checkbox for "Applicant meets eligibility requirements" and a Multiple Choice criterion for "Rate the applicant's leadership abilities."
Best Practices
-
Use Single Checkbox criteria for simple verification and validation tasks.
-
Write prompts as clear statements rather than open-ended questions.
-
Enable Include in Total Score only when the criterion should affect scoring.
-
Use N/A sparingly and only when a criterion may not apply.
-
Enable Mandatory Field when the criterion is required for all reviews.
-
Use Help Hover Text to clarify reviewer expectations and evaluation standards.
-
Consider whether a Multiple Choice criterion would provide more meaningful evaluation data if reviewers need more than a yes/no response.
Important Notes
-
Reviewers can either select the checkbox or leave it unselected.
-
Single Checkbox criteria are ideal for binary evaluations and requirement checks.
-
When Include in Total Score is enabled, the selected checkbox may contribute to the review score.
-
If a more detailed evaluation is required, consider using a Multiple Choice, Dropdown, or Number criterion instead.
