Configuring Conditional Logic

Conditional Logic allows you to show specific questions or sections based on a user's response to a question.

This can be used to create a more personalized submission experience by only displaying relevant information to users.

What is Conditional Logic?

Conditional Logic determines what questions or sections appear based on the answer selected by a user.

Example:

Question: What is your gender?

If the user selects Male, you may choose to:

  • Display additional questions
  • Display a specific section
  • Hide content that is not relevant

Conditional Logic helps reduce unnecessary questions and creates a cleaner submission experience.

Adding Conditional Logic

Step 1: Locate the Question

Question: What is your gender?

If the applicant selects Male, you may choose to:

  • Display additional questions
  • Display a specific section
  • Hide content that is not relevant

Conditional Logic helps reduce unnecessary questions and creates a cleaner application experience.

Step 2: Select the Response Option

You will be taken to the Conditional Logic page for the selected question.

For questions with multiple answer options, each answer choice will have its own Manage button.

For example:

  • Male
  • Female
  • Non-Binary
  • Other / Prefer to self-describe
  • Prefer not to answer

Select Manage beside the response option you would like to configure.

Example: Select Manage beside Male.

Step 3: Configure What Should be Displayed

Once you select Manage, you can choose what should appear when that response is selected.

You will have two options:

Show Question(s)

Displays specific questions when the selected response is chosen.

Use this option when you only need to display one or a few additional questions.

Select + Add to choose the question(s) you would like displayed.

Show Section(s)

Displays an entire section when the selected response is chosen.

Use this option when you need to display multiple related questions.

Select + Add to choose the section(s) you would like displayed.

Example

Question: What is your gender?

Response: Male

Conditional Logic:

Show Section(s):

  • General Information

When an applicant selects Male, the General Information section will become visible.

Changes will not take effect until they are saved.

  1. Navigate to the question.
  2. Select the Conditional Logic button.
  3. Select Manage beside the desired response option.
  4. Add, remove, or modify displayed questions and sections.
  5. Select Save.

Removing Conditional Logic

To remove all conditional logic for a response option:

  1. Open the Conditional Logic configuration.
  2. Select the desired response option.
  3. Remove all configured questions and sections.
  4. Select Save.

Alternatively, select Clear All to remove all configured conditional logic for that response option.

Best Practices

  • Use conditional logic to simplify long forms.
  • Display only questions that are relevant to the applicant.
  • Use Show Question(s) for individual follow-up questions.
  • Use Show Section(s) when displaying multiple related questions.
  • Test every response option before publishing changes.
  • Avoid creating overlapping logic that may confuse applicants.
  • Clearly document complex logic for future administrators.

Important Notes

  • Conditional Logic is configured separately for each answer option.
  • A single response can display multiple questions and/or sections.
  • Questions and sections hidden by conditional logic will not be visible until the triggering response is selected.
  • Always test conditional logic in your Staging environment before publishing changes to Live.
