Email Deliverability Best Practices

Background

With the uptick of spam and abuse, mailbox providers are finding the balance between unauthorized and legitimate mail by fortifying their systems to further protect their users. Google and Yahoo recently announced new requirements for email authentication, consent, and engagement.

Why Is This Important For You?

RQ Platform provides email confirmations and reminders to your users, ensuring optimal credibility and reducing the likelihood of being flagged as SPAM. We adhere to mandatory rules for email senders to enhance the reliability of emails sent on your behalf.

Next Steps

  1. Verify that your From Address used on the RQ Platform are actively using your connected domain.
  2. You will require assistance from your IT department or domain setup support staff to make the following recommended updates to your domain settings.

Recommendations

The primary requirement of all RQ Platform clients and subscription users is to authenticate email send with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.  By working with your domain provider, RhythmQ suggests setting up the following records so your emails can continue to be sent through our email provider, SocketLabs.

The domain in the senders From header must be aligned with both the SPF and DKIM record.

  1. Set up SPF and DKIM email authentication for your sending domain.
  2. Add a DMARC record to your DNS to let receiving systems know what to do if any of the tests fail.
    • We recommend keeping it simple unless your organization has an existing DMARC policy in place. Below is the templated example. The record below will tell systems not to quarantine or reject failed emails. https://tools.socketlabs.com/dkim/generator provides further ways to customize your DMARC record.
