Who Can Use Goals & Tasks
Goals & Tasks can be used by:
- Program Administrators
- Mentors
- Mentees
- Participants in circle-based programs
Depending on your program configuration, administrators may create goals on behalf of participants, while mentors and mentees can create and manage their own goals directly within their engagements.
Understanding Goals
A Goal represents a larger objective that a participant wants to achieve during the mentorship program.
Examples include:
- Improve leadership skills
- Develop a career transition plan
- Expand professional network
- Complete a certification
- Build public speaking confidence
Goals provide a high-level outcome that can be tracked throughout the mentorship experience.
Understanding Tasks
Tasks are individual action items that support the completion of a goal.
Examples include:
- Attend a networking event
- Complete an online course
- Schedule an informational interview
- Update a resume
- Prepare a presentation
Multiple tasks can be associated with a single goal to help participants break larger objectives into manageable steps.
Goal Statuses
Goals can move through several statuses as progress is made:
Not Started: The goal has been created, but no work has begun.
In Progress: Work is actively being completed toward the goal.
Completed: The goal and all associated tasks have been finished.
Administrators can use goal statuses to monitor participant engagement and progress throughout the program.
Document Uploads
Participants can upload supporting documents directly within goals and tasks.
Examples include:
- Resumes
- Portfolios
- Certificates
- Worksheets
- Project files
- Meeting notes
Uploaded documents remain accessible within the goal or task where they were added, making collaboration easier for mentors and mentees.
Comments & Collaboration
Goals and Tasks include a commenting feature that allows participants to communicate directly within their work.
Comments can be used to:
- Share updates
- Ask questions
- Provide feedback
- Celebrate milestones
- Discuss next steps
This creates a centralized record of progress and conversations related to each goal.
