Review Group Assignment Workflow Overview

A Review Group Assignment workflow automatically manages which review groups submissions are assigned to, based on rules you define, so you don't have to assign or remove submissions from groups one at a time.

Where to find it

Review Group Assignment workflows are set up and managed from the Workflows area, alongside other workflow types. When you create a new workflow, you'll choose Review Group Assignment as the type it acts on (as opposed to Registrations, which runs rules on program registrations instead).

When to use one

Use a Review Group Assignment workflow when you want submissions moved in or out of review groups automatically based on conditions — for example, assigning submissions from a particular category to a specific review group, or removing submissions from a group once they reach a certain status.

What it can do

A Review Group Assignment workflow's rules support two actions:

• Assign to a Review Group — add matching submissions to one or more review groups, either alongside or in place of their current groups, with the option to load-balance across groups.
• Remove from Review Groups — remove matching submissions from one or more review groups, with control over whether existing reviewer scores are kept or removed.

How it runs

Workflows are triggered manually, you click Run to apply a workflow's rules to matching submissions. Nothing runs automatically or on a schedule in this release, so you'll need to run the workflow again any time you want it applied to new or updated submissions.
