Configuring a Slider Scoring Review Criterion
A Slider review criterion allows reviewers to provide a score by moving a slider along a defined scoring range.
This criterion type is commonly used when reviewers need to provide a numeric score within a specific range, particularly when you want more flexibility or precision than fixed scoring options provide.
Adding a Single Checkbox Review Criterion
- Navigate to the desired review form or scorecard.
- Select Add Criteria.
- Select Slider from the Criteria Type dropdown.
- Configure the available settings.
- Select Submit.
Configuration Options
Criteria Prompt
The question or statement displayed to reviewers during the evaluation process.
Example:
- How strongly does the application align with the program objectives?
- Rate the overall quality of the submission.
- How effectively does the proposal address the identified need?
- Rate the applicant's overall potential for success.
Best Practice: Write the prompt so it clearly communicates what the reviewer is being asked to score.
Slider Range
Defines the minimum and maximum values available to reviewers.
Minimum
Determines the lowest value a reviewer can select.
Maximum
Determines the highest value a reviewer can select.
Example:
Setting the Slider Range to:
- Minimum: 0
- Maximum: 10
allows reviewers to provide a score between 0 and 10.
Common Uses:
- 1–5 rating scales
- 0–10 rating scales
- 0–100 scoring systems
Best Practice: Choose a range that aligns with your program's scoring methodology and provides an appropriate level of flexibility for reviewers.
Allow Decimal Values
Determines whether reviewers can select decimal values within the configured slider range.
Enabled
- Reviewers can select decimal values.
- This allows for more granular scoring within the defined range.
Disabled
- Reviewers can select whole-number values only.
Example:
With a range of 0–10:
- Disabled: Reviewers select values such as 0, 1, 2, 3, etc.
- Enabled: Reviewers can select decimal values within the range.
Common Uses:
- More precise application ratings

- Evaluation processes requiring granular scores
Best Practice: Enable decimal values when reviewers need to distinguish between submissions that may fall between whole-number scores.
Include in Total Score
Determines whether the slider score contributes to the overall review score.

- The criterion is informational only and does not contribute to the total score.

Slider vs. Multiple Choice Review Criteria
