Understanding Your Match Score
Every suggested pairing in the Matching Dashboard comes with a match score, like 92% Matched. This gives you a quick way to gauge how strong a suggested pairing is before you approve it. It's also the same score mentors and mentees see when they browse for matches themselves in Search & Connect.
How to see the score breakdown
- Open Suggested Matches from the Matching Dashboard.
- Click into any suggested pair to open its Score Breakdown panel.
- At the top, you'll see the two people being matched and the overall match percentage. Below that is a breakdown of the individual factors that make up the score.
The specific factors show depend on how your program is configured for matching. For example, one program might score on:
- Gender
- Time Zone
- Interests
Each factor is shown as its own percentage, and the overall match score is a combination of all of them.
Approving from the Score Breakdown panel
This panel isn't just for viewing — it has its own Create Match button. Clicking it creates that match immediately, so you can approve a pair right after reviewing its score without going back to the Suggested Matches list.
Seeing how matching is configured
The factors and weights that go into a match score come from your program's matching setup. To view or adjust these, click Matching Rules under Admin tools. See Understanding Matching Rules for more detail.
Using the score to decide
A higher score generally means a stronger fit across whatever criteria your program is scoring on. If a suggested pair has a lower score, you can:
- Approve it anyway if you're comfortable with the overall fit
- Review the person's full intake information before deciding
- Choose a different match altogether - see Choosing a Different Mentor or Mentee for a Match
