Workflow Action: Assign a Follow-up
Action: Assign a Follow-up
Use this action to automatically file a submission into a follow-up program.
This can be added to a rule's Then step or its optional Otherwise step; configuration works identically in either place.
Configuring it
Step 1: Choose the Follow-up. Only programs that have already been configured as follow-ups of this program will appear in this dropdown.
Step 2: Choose the Year. This sets which cohort year the follow-up submission should be filed under.
Note: If the program you expect to see isn't in the dropdown, it hasn't been linked as a follow-up of this program yet.
Common use cases
- Automatically file a submission into next year's renewal program once it's tagged "Approved."
- Route a subset of applicants into a related, secondary program based on conditions like requested category or eligibility flag.
Things to watch for
- This action creates a filing into the follow-up — it does not, by itself, notify the applicant. If you want the applicant to know they've been moved into a follow-up program, pair this action with a Send Email action in the same rule.
- Because the Year field determines the cohort, double check it matches the follow-up program's actual open cycle — an incorrect year can file a submission where nobody is expecting to review it.
What's next
