Setting Rule Weights

Once you've created your matching rules, you need to decide how much each one counts toward the overall match score. This is done by distributing a weight to each rule, and all the weights together must add up to 100%.

How to open the weight distribution panel

  1. Go to Admin Tools > Matching Rules.
  2. Choose the Mentor → Mentee or Mentee → Mentor tab.
  3. Click % Distribute Weight in the top-right corner.

This opens the Distribute Weights panel for that direction.

What you'll see

Each rule is listed with:

  • Its rule name and description
  • A badge showing which side it applies to (Mentor or Mentee), its rule number, and its match operator (for example, Equals or Contains)
  • A slider and a percentage field you can use to set its weight

At the bottom of the panel, a Weighting Total shows the sum of all your rules' weights out of 100. This total needs to equal 100/100 before you can save.

Distributing weights evenly

If you'd rather not set each weight by hand, click Auto Split Equally. This resets all rules to an even distribution — for example, four rules would each be set to 25%.

Fine-tuning weights manually

You can adjust any rule's weight by dragging its slider or typing a percentage directly into the field next to it. As you adjust one rule, keep an eye on the Weighting Total at the bottom to make sure everything still adds up to 100.

You can also fine-tune a rule's weight directly from the main rules table, without opening this panel — the same recommended workflow described in Understanding Matching Rules.

Saving your changes

Click Save once your Weighting Total reads 100/100. Click Close to exit without saving.
